Catfish Traces

Our catfish traces are tied on 45lb 'Kryston Quicksilver' and are ideal for presenting softer baits such as squid, mackerel section or a bunch of lob worms.  Bunches of lobs are a fantastic cat bait either presented on the bottom or popped up on a livebait rig.  Depending on the water your fishing though other species can pose a problem as many find a writhing bunch of worms just irresistible.  We always hear of people casting beyond the fish and a freelined bait in the margins can present a fantastic opportunity to get a run from a hungry cat.  Angled monkey climbers underneath your open spooled reels, pike style drop off indicators or lines clipped up above open spooled reels is the way to go if conditions permit, as catfish are very susceptible to resistance.  Because of this fact, using a bait runner system other than with semi fixed rigs, is likely to result in a dropped run.
